gotham city
"Always brings a smile to my face." the good old batman movies..man they are gorgeous. and since christopher nolans batman begins and the glorious, outstanding dark knight ( looking forward to watch the new one) gotham is a large, modern metropolitan area that reflects the various periods of architecture that the city had gone through. welcome to chicago! walk along state street, wabash avenue or wacker drive and i guarantee u just hope that the next guy around the corner will be the joker or if u prefer the good side, bruce wayne/batman, harvey dent, the beautiful rachel daws and commissioner gordon! of course..the riddler would be amazing too.
wabash avenue
navy pier..lets play a game..two ferries..prisoners or citizen of gotham?
lower wacker drive
lower wacker drive..used for a lot of car scenes and remember when they close the roads to get out of gotham ( dark knight) they show a few bridges and a street..there we go!
randolph street metra station, where bruce hit the police car :)

washington dc
I really looked forward to go there. All this history and important buildings, the security and the..security! you feel like u never left the airport and during one day you have to go through 3 or 4 metal detectors, take off your belt, watches, everything in your pocket has to go into a basket, no food and drinks. They are so secured and afraid, sometimes really stressed. Everywhere are cameras..on some roof tops there are agents with heavy guns pointing on something and u hope it is not you J wow! Some of the park rangers making jokes and don’t take it to serious, but u can count them on one hand! Really funny are those Asian shops/bistros on wheels. U can buy hot dogs, cold drinks, chips, bars, ice cream, and souvenirs and t shirts with prints like osama got obama’d or osama with a target ring and blood in his face! Who is buying this stuff? Guys please do me a favour : when u ever visit the Iraq (why and how ever), don’t forget to take this shirt with u, wear it and document this! Thanx!
Anyway the reasons to go there were history and political interests. So first day I head out to the Washington monument, white house, the world war 2 monument and Lincoln monument. Like in other cities you can reach all by walking; in dc through the national mall and along 14th ave. the next days i tried to get one of the much sought after tickets..washington monument and the capitol and for sure the white house. but to visit the presidents home u have to ask your senate or congress man to give u a pass/permission with a minimum of 6 months waiting time or if u are a foreigner, please contact your embassy 7 days in advance. for god sakes..so if someone would like to go into the white house, "book" in advance, no backpack, purse or/and cameras. from the outside it is a nice building and if u stand right in front of the front side u have a great view on thomas jefferson memorial. my favorite one. reminds me off the pantheon in rome and that is the intention. the most buildings are european style (greek, roman) or the washington monument as an obelisk (what is not the original one..it's washington as a greek god, nice body and his head on top; a few greek elements around). i barely remember who but one guy told me u can easily spend a week at the smithsonian. huaaha..it is true! African American History and Culture Museum, African Art Museum, Air and Space Museum, Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center, American Art Museum, American History Museum, American Indian Museum, American Indian Museum Heye Center, Anacostia Community Museum, Arts and Industries Building, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Freer Gallery of Art, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, National Zoo, Natural History Museum, Portrait Gallery, Postal Museum, Renwick Gallery, Sackler Gallery,Smithsonian Institution Building (The Castle)..and so on. one should choose wisely. i visited the sculpture garden, national history museum, the castle and it is not listed here, the us bureau of engraving and printing. the new 100 dollar note will be a blast :) great as well are the national archives, which host the bill of rights and the us constitution. and if u watched the movie national treasure u know what i mean *lol*

most beautiful city in america? noap!
After boston I took the bus to Baltimore. No clue why I head out there. Maybe because of sleepless in seattle..meg ryan did mentioned something about the harbour and when they showed it, it was good looking..in 1985 or whenever the movie was shot J I remember that Jessica told me Baltimore has a nice harbour, but not more. Not true..how I figured out. The banner was founded in Baltimore during the war against the brits and they have a nice Washington monument with a great market place around. Historic downtown is nice as well. On my last evening I went to a baseball game with Justin and a volunteer who has not introduced herself and the whole night we never needed her name. all conversation was without her name J so when Justin and me went back to the hostel we looked at each other and “ do u know her name?”..no..u?..no! okay! It was a nice one..cold, wet..but tasty and funny! the next day I made my way to Washington dc. The capital of this wonderful country/nation, where I am now tourist since 2 weeks.

Guys u know that this blog says: me myself and Canada. I already left a few days ago and so I am free..hahaahhhaaaaa and tomorrow i will conquer the world! But I am such a nice kind cute smart alec.. did I mention how charming I am? But that’s another chapter..so lets go on..with boston.
Like the dropkick murphys love to sing I am shipping up to boston, was this my intention to travel from Halifax to boston. But I am out of season and the ferries are still out of service. Surprise..season starts with the frist of may..haha..so close, but still 3 days away! So I purchased my hard earned money to air canada and they sent me a nice mail with a big thank you for choosing air Canada. Hope you enjoy your flight and hope to see you soon again. I hope so too J give me 4 months!
Anyway when I got into the airplane flying from Halifax, nova scotia, Canada to Boston, Massachusetts, usa it was raining and myself was upset, tired. Yeah great boarder passport control..i forgot the tight controls of our lovely fellows from the states. Get your shoes of..slowly..watches, belt, cell phones, coins, laptops out of your backpack and your boarding pass..please! mmh..like on the airport in Frankfurt I enjoyed the come close along the whole body searching part. But I didn’t wear the jeans with the metal button zipper..too bad..for me! But there are still chances in Chicago, l.a. and Honolulu J cross the fingers! It is not allowed to smile or uuhh worst to laugh during the answer/question part before you are officialy in the states to be a temporary citizen or tourist. I mean the process where they ask you..what are you here for? Private or business? Alone or friends? Bring anything with you? Put your right/left thumb on the scanner..now the four fingers left/right..and last but not least: the picture! No teeth showing pic..be serious..you want to enter the states..behave yourself..watch your attitude! the lady who served me or processed my entrance was close to laughing out loud..there was always a little smile behind her serious, concentrated face structure..don’t be shy..let it out..show the world your beautiful smile. no..no chance..not even my charming person could get a tiny one! So I entered the states with a hardly said welcome.
Boston welcomed me with sun kisses. 21 degrees, blue sky and green green trees. G, colors everywhere. Great. As soon as I arrived at the hostel I jumped into my shorts, took a bird bath and made my way through the city. My face muscles hurt at the end of the day because I could not stop smiling. Such a delicate city with a lot of universities, kind people, history, nightlife, sport freaks, museums, parks, green trees areas and cute women J(I know sounds like any other city) am I really in the states? Where is all the dirt, smell, annoying patriotism, high towers, begging people or sorry but true..fat people? No..not here. Not in new England, Massachusetts!
They are still too busy and always in a rush..wonder where they are running to?!
The hi front desk lady recommended Harvard university and Cambridge for the next day, a Saturday. I really have to thank her for this. It was art first festival..means Harvard students show their qualities and it was impressive. Before I joined some of the shows , I did two tours through Harvard..both tour leaders are students. Pretty amazing history and quite funny. Matt damon and the lovely Nathalie portman graduated in Harvard. Also john adams, George Washington, john f. kennedy and not sure but I think it was bill Clinton. Google it! Imagine that you walk the same paths like 50 or 60 years ago jfk..unbelieveable. goose bumps..serious..or when u see the building..name is Massachusetts hall or house..where adams, washington and jfk had lived in..you r so close..it is so old..it is still there..it is history and u are there. Man, where is doc brown with his delorian? Is there a possibility to travel back in time? It was very interesting to listen to the stories and the whole history about Harvard. And that was not the only day I went there J Cambridge is a nice neighbourhood with the biggest amount of bookshops in a city. It is like heaven *lol* and yeah I bought some..don’t ask how I will carry them? No clue! Figure it out later..somehow J
What else? I went to a baseball game..boston red sox against los angeles angels! Fenway park..the most known baseball stadium in the states and most important one. And it was a good game..thrilling! but nothing topped the hockey game. Bruins against flyers. Phillie had no chances..not a minute. Fudge..these fans are crazy and totally in to it. Holy Toledo! Yourself got thrilled just because of the songs they have played and sang. All along dropkick murphys..yeeehaah. u remember that I told u there was no annoying patriotism? Big mistake during a bruins game. I mean the Bostonians are proud because of their city history..no thing..appreciate this. But when 25.000 people screaming u-s-a every time the screen shows a soldier or the flag..no freakin way. That is scary..i can tell u! it is awesome when the bruins shot a goal all fans are screaming and dancing..this time they were dancing 5 times. 5 : 1 for the bruins. Like I said they kicked Phillies arse! During 20 secs 2 goals. We didn’t even finish partying for the first goal..wooap..next one! But the bruins will not win the Stanley cup. They are good..no way..but a big help are these fans. Canucks! That’s all I say. Or Detroit..but..mmh it will be very hard for them..next game series will be against Vancouver (if they will beat san jose tonight)..no cream! Oh and tampa bay is strong as well..good goal getters! But like I already wrote: Canucks! Remember!
The other sport I watched (sadly not played) was soccer. Boston breakers against sky blue fc. Ha and there I was again..harvard,Cambridge! The women team of boston plays on Harvard ground..no real gras! Some crazy screaming fans as well, but this time no beer drinking men..girls! Hysterically screaming love you boston breakers girls behind in front and to my both sides. Where are their parents and why are they still out? I like kids! I am not a soccer specialist but during the first period I got some grey hair. Soccer is a team sport but if there is a good chance and no other team player with you..just shoot! I was not the only one who crossed both arms over the head when this happened..two times..awesome chances..nothing! awkward! But boston made a nice goal and they won. So everything is green! After the game was the fan alley..hahahahaaaa. next time before I join a game I will inform myself about the players. I got some autographs and embarrassed myself..life is funny..now that the us coach announced the squad for the world cup. They have one really good defense player, amy le pleibelt (besides: congratulation for being announced. So cu in Germany Jtold u) or something like this..reminds me of ariane hingst. Not the way she is playing, only the way how both look like. Amy is nice J anyway boston and now team us has some good players. The us coach already said that a few people said they will win the world cup and that is her sentence exactly, too! it sounds like there is someone to ensure about winning. She was not even mention the german team, because team us is world leader?! Who was the team which had qualified itself in the last second? Aha J oh I am getting more and more excited.
That was always after 6 pm. the first part of the day I spent with walking around, doing the freedom trail, exploring the neighbourhoods, reading, relaxing, visiting the jfk library and museum, visiting breweries and the library. The highlight of all museums I went to was the jfk library and museum! You were joining Kennedy during the time he had candidate for president in 1960. Very informative and hilarious when they showed the tv debates with Nixon or the public interviews. Kennedy is a great speaker and a dam good charmer J not to forget his excellent political potential.
The harpoon brewery makes some excellent beer and the best..the brewery tour was without any costs. So delicious beer for free *lol* I also visited Samuel adams brewery, but the “tour” is not as good as the harpoon one. Boring. U don’t see anything..just the barrels where they used to keep the beer in and the storage room. Oh and they support hockey J the tasting lap is the big highlight and the thing all are waiting for. Again, the tour is free and u can keep the glass at the end. During the tasting he is telling u about the certain steps how brewers and judges drink a beer. Things u have to look for. Good stuff. The summer beer is tasty and after 2 glasses u can drink the raspberry one as well!

canadas atlantic port and my jumpseat to the states
i just looked at my pics and seriously..what did i do in halifax during 5 days? i walked 6 times a day along the harbour, drank beer in different bars/breweries, visited service canada, the citadel of halifax and the marketplace. the rest of my time i spent in the gym and with walking around. sounds not really spectacular, right? but it doesn't have to be something special and busy all the time. relax..enjoy to be in canada..deep breath of canadian fresh air and remember your last 9 months traveling through an extraordinary country!
